The
concept emanated out of a desire to connect
with others from around the world in a way that was fun and educational.
It was also a way to introduce others to the foods, the culture, the traditions,
the people of our own country...
Through
once a month dinner parties, groups from all over the world share in
a common meal and theme. My Hatt researches the recipes to
give everyone not only a taste of that country's cuisine but hopefully enhance
the experience by making it more authentic from place-settings to music
to the language to games that people might play.
This is a unique and educational way to connect with people from all over the world. Each month, groups gather
as friends and family to enjoy a great meal while at the same time learning
a bit about the country being featured that particular month. Each
family member is encouraged to get involved. In addition to the adults, we provide each month a children's
section with their own recipe (s) where children from around the world can also play games, learn interesting
facts and even begin to connect with other children in the country featured..
We give
you hints on setting the table and cooking the meals. From time to time
we will actually bring in guests from that country to write about traditions
and customs and anything else that will make your dinner parties more educational
and enhance the experience for everyone.
The
objective here is quite simple: build
lasting friendships of understanding that stretch around the
world and bring all of us to a better appreciation for other cultures, other
foods, and the corresponding traditions.
"We
have learned so much not only about other countries and other people but
ourselves. Trying new recipes and seasonings that would normally never appear
on our shelves has enriched our taste buds and given us a 'wonderful sense
of world'. But more importantly, we are getting to know our 'world' neighbors
and we believe, as MyHATT does,, that it is people knowing people that is
the gateway to understanding.."

We have separated the globe into 12 different regions. That gives us a different region for each month which allows us to cover the globe each and ever year. Currently there are considered to be 195 countries in the world. In addition to that, there are colonies or protectorates that clearly have there own unique cuisine as well as culture, traditions and history and so those will be blended in as we go. Of course, within many countries, there are even unique regions that have their own character and so we will be going back to certain countries multiple times to make sure that we get a glimpse of the entire make up of those countries and their people. We have also set up a “region” as “The Islands” which covers a multitude of different cultures since “The Islands” are spread throughout the world.
Here are the regions we have currently set up: Africa; S America; Europe; East Asia; N America; C America; Middle East; S E Asia; Russia/Slavic; Scandinavia; Australia/New Zealand; The Islands
We look forward to this journey and hope you will tag along. It should be fun. I know one thing, we’ll get to know the world “…just a little bit better with every bite…”
Have
you had your first Dinner? If not, get with it and do it the MyHATT
way!
